This is a very touchy subject. Although past marriages have been between one man and one woman I believe times are changing. Who am I to say that two people of the same sex should not be able to become legally married? Although I choose to live my life according to traditional standards that does not mean that everyone else must do the same.
I think of it this way, if two people of the same sex want to get married more power to them. It does not affect me in any way that they are together although i will live be the traditional standards. The only thing i have a problem with is them having kids or adopting kids. Plus i thought we are all supposed to be looked at the same no matter what we choose and treated the same. I think that if two people want to get married let them be who are you to judge?
I believe it should be ratified. Marriage is between one man and woman. It won't be easy getting it ratified though. And even if it does, it's not going to eliminate people of the same sex living together and living their lives together.
If two people love each other then it is their choice to get married, even if they are of the same sex. If you love someone of the same sex it isnt any different than loveing someone of a different sex. You cant tell someone that they cant get married because we dont think they should. And just because the law says that someone can not be legally married, doesnt mean that they wont live their lives as if they were. I do not think it should be ratified.
I agree with the discussion of marriage between the opposite sex because of tradition. It isn't normal, the way I see it, to have a relation with the same gender. I refer to the bible which clearly identifies marriage between a male and female. I think the "Formal Amendment" should be ratified by Congress.
I think that if everyone is to be treated equal then it should not be passed do to the fact that even if they do ratify it, it still won't stop them from living together.
'atta baby FT.
I don't think it should be ratified. I think that if you wanna be with someone who is of the same sex then you cant help what you love. But i do believe that this is the way most of us were taught to love opposite gender. You can't help what you love.
I don't think it should be ratified. Times are changing like doke said and same sex marriages are starting to become a big thing. I think that as long as they are comfortable then let them. It doesn't effect me or anyone else really, its their life. I'm not against gay marriage I would just rather everyone be traditional but thats not the way its going to be.
I believe that this amendment should be ratified by congress. Marriage is supposed to be between one man and one woman and that is how it should stay. I homosexuals want to live together then let them but the right of marriage should be saved for one man and one woman.k
I would support this. I have no problem with people that are gay. But i believe that marriage should be between a women and a man. Because one main purpose of marriage is to have children and people of the same sex do not have that option.
i believe it should be between one man and one woman. But then if u want to have it with the same sex then that is your own choice. But should keep it to a man and a women.
I believe people of the same sex should have the right to get married. They are no different than us and the one of the biggest thoughts of the americans is 'equality of men'. Time to let them prove it.
I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman only. I believe completely in what the Bible says that a man shall not lay down with another man. Marriage is holy, blessed by God.
Even if times are changing we as a nation need to stand firm on how the Bible says to live our lives.
Ultimately, this goes back to what I believe American government is supposed to be about-the most freedom possible. The most freedom possible for every individual means that our rights extend until they infringe on another persons. An adult marrying another adult does not infringe on anyones rights. This does not mean, as the teacher so charmingly inquired, that perhaps in the future marriage to children or animals will become acceptable as well. It is widely believed that children do not have the capability to decide for themselves whether they can have alcohol, drive, etc...obviously the right to decide to spend their lives with someone is somewhat above their heads. They same clearly goes for animals.
I have nothing against people who are gay, they have that right to live their life as they please. Although, I do I believe the rights and advantages of marriage should only be allowed to marriages involving a man and a women. As Casey said, Marriage is holy and blessed by god. The bible specifically says marriage should be between a man and a women.
Do I even have to say it? Maybe someday I'll marry my hamster, just because the times are changing and SOMEONE seems to think in the future we will do this sort of thing.
I would not ratify this amendment. And I do not think that anyone should. I believe that marriage is between a person and someone they love, whether it be a man or a woman. I do believe that if it comes out to public that it will probably be ratified in a lot of states simply because America is ignorant in the fact that not all people listen, watch, or read the news. Just like in Colorado, they just had a law ratified that you pay less for your insurance, but if you have an accident you have to pay your insurance company back. This was probably a result from ignorance in the people. But anyways my point is that it is not anyone business to keep someone from marrying any person that they love.
Josh is right it is a touchy subject. I am also with the traditional standards. But Why should government step in and not allow two people of the same sex to get married, that is their personal choice. And their right.
Mmm nice jake, comparing gays to hamsters.
Anyways, no this stupid amendment should not be ratified. Whats the point of claiming you're giving equality for all, when you're taking away the rights of someone just because they're homosexual? I think we have much bigger problems we should be dealing with. Gay marriage is like the last thing the government should be concerned with.
Same sex marriage should be ok. I wouldnt want anyone telling me i couldnt marry the one i loved weather it was a man of woman. Its there decision.
I think it should be ratified and that everybody should stick with tradition. its been a man with a woman marriage for a long time no reason to change it
i would not support it, but i think they probably have the right to get married or whatever.
i agree casey.
but i dont understand how you could love somebody of the same sex.
if two people of the same sex want to marry thats there choice. every one has a choice on how they want to live there life and just because its not the way you were brought up or the way you believe doesn't mean its wrong.
i don't even know where homos come from, the answer to this might make me state my answer different. but i still say that marriage is and should only be between one man and one woman.
If gays want to get married let them
1 man 1 woman..
honestly, it's not our problem. why should we worry about what they want to do? people can't help if they're gay...or straight, so they should be allowed to get married to who they want. it wouldn't affect me in any way, and I don't think it would affect anyone else any more than it is now. If they can't get married, they will still be together as if they are.
I feel that marriage should be between a man and a woman. We have seen that this has worked traditionally for a long time. Marriage also takes place in a very religious enviroment so I feel that the rules of the bible (which says that marriage is only between a man and women) pertain to this event.
no. America is based on freedom. our only limitations are supposed to be that our freedom does interfere with another person being free. and if 2 women or 2 men want to get married that doesn't effect anyone else.those 2 people and thats it, just like with 1 man and 1 woman. but if we told gay people that they couldn't get married, we would be taking away their freedoms. and just because the bible said it isn't right....doesn't make a difference not everybody "lives by" the bible; we also have this little thing called freedom of religion
I think to keep this country going we all need to accept other unnatural things and let them slide, its when things go wrong that we need to change them.
I don't think it should be allowed at all no religion in this country sanctions such an act.
i think if gays want to get married let em be but dont come near me
i think that marriage should be only between a man and a woman period
