Is nuclear energy our best solution for ending our dependence on foreign oil and reducing the effects of global warming? Or are more nuclear power plants a recipe for disaster in the arenas of operational safety and storage of nuclear waste. Could they also be targets for terrorist activities?

I don't think that nuclear energy is the best way to go because the waste of the nuclear is what is killing people. then why would we use the same thing that is killing people? that is my view point
I think nuclear energy is bad. Not only for the economy but for the environment. I think we will run out of storage for the nuclear waste, and wherever its stored will create a HUGE problem. Its going to be absorbed into the ground, then into the water, get in animals, plants, maybe even humans. It is a recipe for disaster no question. And yes, they could easily be a target for terrorists.
I agree with the two abaove comments. I do not think that nuclear energy will be good for the environment or the people around it. So no, nuclear energy is not the best solution for global warming.
I don't care.
If Global Warming happens, get over it.
But when I do hear the word nuclear, or in this case see, I picture Kim Jong-Il and I get nervous.
So, maybe no.
I need to pay attention more, this much I know.
I think it is ok for right now, as long we don't have a better solution. The waste is too big.
But they should keep looking for a better energy source, a safer one, too. If they will find it, replace it. They could start with more solar systems or wind energy.
I'm not sure if I'm agree or not with nuclear energy... I mean this reduce the effects of global warming, nuclear power is a sustainable energy, but the only thing that makes me feel insecure about it, is the waste, what do you do with the waste? what is the effect of the waste? What about radioactive contamination?
I don't think it's worth the risk. I realize that disasters aren't incredibly common but when they do happen it's really bad. I'm sure there are other more safe alternatives. And I don't know how they store the waste but I do know that I don't want it anywhere near me!
I agree with Martin. That Nuclear Energy is the way to go. Until we find better safer ways to produce energy. Nuclear Energy is the way to go. But we need to move to a better safer way of producing energy. such as solar power, wind power. Until they become more able stick with nuclear energy.
I think Nukes are great! As long as one is careful and doesn't screw up (Chernobyl). Uranium is powerful in small quantities, and it is long lasting, so a little bit of uranium will make a lot of power. Nuclear powerplants are also very efficient.
So I feel that, if controlled, Nuclear power is a good alternative to wasteful, polluting, natural resource depleting, coal fired power plants.
I think we need to be careful with how we use nuclear energy if it is dangerous for the environment, but i think we can control the effects on the environment if we are smart with it and control it. You never know if it could cause terrorism because people are unpredictable sometimes.
Nuclear energy isn't exactly the smartest/safest form of energy, though no it won't effect our dependence on foreign oil, and yes it'll probably cause more damage to the earth by contributing more to global warming. I guess if we are "careful" then its alright, however, i don't think its particularly possible to be careful with that.....
I am not sure about nuclear energy. It could be good and more effective but then it also has many opportunities to cause more problems. I think that we should not try something this risky this soon. We should probably research more and learn more about the subject and try to find other ways for energy.
I dont think that nuclear energy will be good, it will hurt the environment to much down the road.
I think nuclear energy is alright. If it replaces fossil fuels and drives down the yearly output of CO2 then the waste doesn't look too bad, now does it? I don't think terrorists will attack the plants because they're kind of in the middle of a war and they are the ones that should be worrying their homelands.
I dont know much about Nuclear Engergy. It sounds bad to me so i guess i dont think we should have it.
hmmm...idk about this one. nuclear power has its ups and downs: on one side, theres the fact that nuclear power would reduce our co2 emissions and stuff; but on the other hand nuclear waste is something i dont think we've quite learned out to take care of yet. its a really dangerous thing, so i think if scientists could figure out a way to take care of the nuclear waste in a very safe, not at all damaging to the environment way, then we should start using it. until then, we should think of other alternative fuels to be using.
We do not need nuclear energy because it could blow up and I don't think it would be safe.
I think instead of using nuclear energy we should just use the wind fans to generate electricity because it might be cheaper anyway. Also if nuclear energy waste is causing harmful bacteria and defects than no I don't think we should use it. No, I don't think that terrorists would even think about attacking a place like that anyway, they would probably go somewhere where there is more people, publicity, and power.
i dont think nuclear energy is the way to go because i dont know much about it and it doesnt sound very safe to me
People generally think that nuclear energy is much more hazardous than other forms of energy. however, it is contained far better than other sources. Many coal plants cause people nearby to get cancer. OMG!
I did my research y'all!
I dont really know, there are risks, but they might be beneficial to our world. But Global warming is a myth, in my opinion. So I dont really know i think that we should keep searching for more kinds of energy.
I am with Krazy because we need a golbal warming in our country.
