Human Nature
Is man in his natural state good or evil? Why do we need government?
i think man by nature is evil. look at all the bad things man does, half of them arent even done on purpose. even when we know we've done something bad, we dont accept it and do nothing about fixing it. i cant see how anything in our nature is really that good, except the things we've taught ourselves
i agree with alison on this one. man does do a lot of bad things naturally. a lot of the time people don't even know they're doing something wrong. i do believe though that man does have some good to them. when were born we follow by example so if our parents do good we will follow in their footsteps.
I think man is good from the begining but the more influence that a person gets from another determines weather or not that person will always remain good or go down the wrong road. That is why we need governemnt because some of need to have others stopped to protect ourselves and the governemnt tries to by laying down laws. I we had all of the bad influence that we do today with no goverment, I think the world would probably be different.
I think men is not really on one side. He gets evil because of competition and surviving, and because he wants money... I think government wouldn't be necessary but it makes life way easier. without government it would be a pure fight over death or life.
I believe "man" is good in the beginning, back in the day. But "man" learns to be evil. We are not born already knowing certain words or how to kill. We are taught, we are shown, we learn...Yeah, alright, Government is okay.
I think that by nature man is good when they are born. Then it is a something you choose and learn to be. As we get older we are taught by our parents to be good. But once we are out of the nest it is our choice to be good or evil. I also agree with Martin that it has a lot to do with competition and surviving.
human by nature are evil, if your a bible person. Adam and Eve both took a bit from the apple. So many Christian believers believe that man by nature is evil. Thats what I believe. But how can you determine whats evil and whats not evil. For example a cave man kills another cave man for food. but the cave man who killed the other cave man. all he was trying to do is survive thats all. So how can we say what is evil and what is not evil. So i think Government is very important. Because it is a place where almost every one comes to a compromise.
i believe a man is about 50/50. It all depends on what man is influenced by more. If man is influenced by good then man is good. Just depends on what they are influenced by.
I think man is both good and evil. Some times we make bad choices and are influenced to make bad decisions. But i think man has a chance to make up for wrong doing and if they dont maybe they are evil at heart. I think government makes our lives alot easier by estabishing justice and rules, but not everything is perfect and that is the evil. My opinion though is not everyone is evil only the ones who choose to be.

I believe we have our instincts and that is kind of a basis for how we act in certain situations. Kind of like a read and react thing. If someone pushs you your first instinct is to either fight back or run. So if you fight back are you evil for beating on him or good for it. Or are you evil for being a coward or good for being the "better man". It all depends on how you view things and how you act to them. So personally I think we are neutral and then the more reactions we have or more sudden instincts the easier it will be to be evil or good. And government is a good thing because it keeps the society under control for the most part, there are flaws but what isnt there a flaw in.
I think people are good when they start out. Throughout our lives we are affected by other people and the events in our lives that can change the way we feel about being good or bad. I think we need government to help control the bad people.

I believe in the goodness of people, and that people at their natural state know what is right and wrong.. otherwise why would little kids act guilty when they do something that their parents just told them not to.. yes people misbehave (again use the little kid as an example) but that does not make them EVIL.. we need law to protect the goodness of people from the evil that IS out there... just because humans are good does not mean that everything is good
I think you are born stupid. I think throughout time u learn to be a good person or a bad person. I dont think a person comes out of the womb evil, or good. i think u become what u want.
I believe truly believe that man is good and then is either taught evil or learns it on his own terms. This is what i believe. We need government to help reagulate the men who learn evil by self teaching or through the teaching of others. Now if man did not learn evil then we would not need government in this world, just for the simple fact that everyone could trust each other but this isnt the perfect world.
